“He doesn-he doesn’t think he should go home, and I told him, ‘You know, I’ve seen it in your eyes that day,’ ” she said.

“He said, ‘I’m going to go out and try to get something for you.'”

In his speech to the school, President Ramos said the president has “deep sympathy” for students who were killed in recent clashes with the police.

“He said he feels that our country, and the world, is in a moment where we need a leadership in which our citizens feel safe, and that includes our children,” Ramos said.

He called the killings “horrible” and “deeply upsetting.”

In addition to the families of the deceased, President Cruz, the first lady, the president’s daughter and several other relatives were among the mourners in attendance.
